Knife Making

I've found myself a new hobby. I recently began making knives. For the first six I finished some unfinished Sabatier Blanks that were drop forged around the 20's. It was a very slow process; I first had to anneal the blades to soften the steel, next I filed the bevels by hand.. a few hours per knife (tedious work!).. After all six were filed I heat treated and tempered them which hardens them, but also leaves a black scaling across the blade. I then clean off the scale and finish the blades. I custom make the handles choosing woods that best match the blades finish, which are then oiled with Organic walnut oil to help preserve the wood.
